i know this amazing band that i work for that i am trying to promote ROTATION! myspace.com/rotation but i am looking for other ways to promote over the net any ideas?

1) Get your own domain name at Go Daddy. Get something like Rotation-The-Band.com. Then you can have your own website which will allow you to post tour dates, contests, etc.

2) Create a nice looking website. You can get really cheap hosting nowadays. Like $8 a month. Way better than the freebie places and looks more like you have it together and are a real band. I've posted a link to a low cost but really nice web hosting place below.

3) Bring business cards or even better, post card sized business cards that have both your myspace and your website address on it. Hand them out at gigs. The reason I say post card size is because that's different and you can make them look more with more room than a business card. The size doesn't really matter, just that they look cool and have your website address on it.

4) Add a link from your MySpace page to your website and run fun little events like vote on your favorite song to keep the fans involved and coming back to the site.

I would create a website using a free provider such as Geocities or something.

Try Facebook, and try looking for websites in whatever area you are in (local newspaper sites, town website etc), as sometimes you can post free ads for things....Also, a lot of internet providers allow you to make a small website through your internet account and it is included in the cost of your internet per month, so that could be something else to look at (if your current provider does not do so, then look into other providers and may be switch if it is still affordable)

OOOOH, another thing, if you are going to wind up with a website, it is important to "Own" your Domain name, and other possibilities as well as they can link directly to your site, as sometimes mis-type things or mis-spell for instance: www.yahoo.ca, but they type www.yahoo,ca (typo comma instead of period). Whoever helps with the website can explain this to you more easily than I can!

Also, it always helps if the band has a logo for advertising purposes, and another thing is to may be look around town at local festivals to get into to play for and that would be another form of free advertising and drawing out more of a crowd!
