I know some bands that have MySpace profiles through personal contact, but I want to be able to search for some other favorites and don't know how. If I search for a band, I get a bunch of fans, not the ban.

That is true about it being at the top of the search list. Also, most "official" profiles are www.myspace.com/band name, as opposed to an obviously made-up URL. For example, www.myspace.com/saosin
www.myspace.com/anberlin, not like anberlinmusic or something. Plus most bands these days have their music available straight from the myspace page, so look for that, either in a snocap store or a place like bigcartel.
