Maybe, in the beginning it was.

Since MySpace has thousands of unsigned bands maybe even millions I think its getting harder and harder.

no. its a good way to get your band out there especially if you have all your friends have your music on their myspace. but i dont think a record deal will come out of it

it would help with promotions, and would get you to a record deal easier. but myspace alone won't get you a record deal.

it wouldn't hurt, but if you want to get signed you have to be good, or at least marketable

yes, its a great place 2 get ut band heard and ur name out there. talk 2 tom on myspace and make as many freinds and listen 2 ur music iv seen alot of bands become famous and big of myspace help..i even see some on MVT.. keep ur dreams high man and never give up good luck 2 yea.. hewy maybe one day ill hear u on the radio!!! i think yes but to a point.

its not a great site for record deals, although it is posible to get one on there.

it can be a great way to promote bands, I found alot of bands on there that i have never heard of and i end up really enjoying it. so it canhelp selling out shows and cd's and all that good stuff

but i still go for playing at clubs and stuff like that, and try to get scouts to come check you out!

i think its just a better way to promote your music all over the world as opposed to selling your cd's after you play to a crowd at the local bars. if you're looking to get signed to a deal, i wouldnt put all my eggs in that basket. i think posting a question on y/a with my music and asking people to further support me through my website would be better. at least this way you could gain an underground following and slowly build some momentum. myspace, i think, would lose you in the millions of people signed up to it.

maybe not a record deal, but its a good way to get your music out there, if you promote it without being a d*ck. A Band I like now i found on myspace.

No, it is a really good way to get noticed. I have proof, my favorite band, Our Innocence Lost went on unknown, and now they are signed and working on a record.

Well it is a way to get known, and get more people to listen to your music, but nothing more...

however once you get an album out you can advertise on your myspace and do other things ...

I don't think My Space will get you discovered, but it will get your name out there. It is great for networking. I do know one of our local bars found a couple of bands on My Space and had them come and play.

It's rough getting signed no matter what, so it's worth a shot...or you can just sell your body as a prostitute and have sex with the Governor of New York...lol
